Terms of Service

What you agree to when you use the service.

Last updated: 2026-05-06

Acceptable use

You may submit PDF documents you have the legal right to remediate — your own publications, documents commissioned for your organization, or documents for which you carry an explicit license. You may not submit documents you do not have the right to modify, including third-party copyrighted material without authorization.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to the PDFs you submit and the remediated PDFs we return. We retain rights to the pipeline, the engine source, the validation profiles, and the brand. The validation reports produced by veraPDF carry their own license per the PDF Association.

Warranty

The service is provided as-is. We commit to running the validation pipeline as described and to producing per-file pass/fail reports against published profiles. We do not warrant that every document will pass on the first run; we publish what veraPDF returns.

Liability

Liability is limited to the fees paid for the engagement in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by U.S. law. The specific state of jurisdiction is named in the customer agreement.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes are notified at the address on file at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
